Watermark on free downloads
PosterMyWall and Getty watermarks appear on design previews and free downloads for print products like flyers, posters, and banners. All videos also contain watermarks. For free downloads, the watermarks help with creative attribution (e.g., "Background by Vector Art") in compliance with agreements with the artists and copyright laws.
You can get a free, watermark-free download by resizing your design to a social media size, such as an Instagram post or Facebook shared image. These free basic downloads are perfect for running social media campaigns without spending anything. Just keep in mind that this works for image-based designs without premium stock content from GettyImages.
To remove watermarks entirely from larger formats or videos, you’ll need to purchase the design. If your design contains premium stock content or is a video, you will see a larger watermark until it’s removed through purchase. Learn more about large watermarks in this article.

Watermark on video downloads
Free video downloads will always have a large watermark in the middle of the design whether stock graphics by GettyImages have been used or not. You need to purchase the video download for $14.95 if you're on the free plan.
Video downloads on both subscription plans are completely free and high resolution by default and will not contain a watermark. You can opt for the Premium subscription to get unlimited free downloads for as low as $9.95 per month.
Getting a watermark on your download despite paying
If you’ve paid for a download but still see a watermark, it’s possible you mistakenly downloaded the free version instead. To get your watermark-free download:
From the Editor Page: Click the download button and select the download option you purchased. Downloads you’ve already paid for will have a 'Purchased' tag instead of a price.
Via Order History: Go to your Order History, click the download link for your order, and it will direct you to the download page for the paid, watermark-free version.
Note: The preview image may contain a watermark, however the watermark will be absent on the downloaded file.
- For basic account users: You can re-download purchased files directly from the Order History page as needed.
- For Premium users: You won’t need to access the Order History, as your downloads will be free of watermarks, and available directly from the editor.
As a free user, selecting the download option, you've purchased in the past will get you the same download again, without the need to pay again. If you pick another download option, you will have to pay for that. For example, if you've purchased a standard image before, you won't need to purchase it again and clicking download on the standard image download will get you the download for free. If, however, you click the other paid download option (in this case, high-res image), you will have to pay for this download option.
You can also get your download via the Order History page. Click the download button under your order to go to the download page. From there, you can download the purchased design. The download link is also sent to your email.
Removing the watermark for free
If you're using an image, you can remove the small watermark for free. Resize the design to any social media size, be it Instagram post image, Facebook shared image, Twitter shared image to remove the watermark from the free download.
Use the free basic downloads to run your social media campaigns without having to spend a single penny on downloading visual content. You can resize to remove watermarks off your designs that are images only and do not contain stock graphics by GettyImages.
If you find a template that contains a premium stock photo, and you want to get it free, replace the premium elements with a non-premium stock content via Storyblocks or use your own photos. Replacing or removing GettyImages stock images will remove the large watermark of the design, and the free download will no longer contain the large watermark. This does not apply to video downloads.

Removing watermark on mobile
If you're designing on mobile, watermarks will still appear on free downloads for both images and videos, just like on desktop. Here’s how to handle them:
- Free Image Downloads: You can remove watermarks from flyer image designs by resizing the design to a social media format. Simply select a size like an Instagram post or Facebook shared image by clicking on the resize icon at the bottom of the editor. The watermark will disappear for free downloads that don't contain premium stock content.
- Purchasing to Remove Watermarks: To get a high-resolution, watermark-free version of your design, you’ll need to purchase it. The process is easy:
- After finishing your design, tap the download button (top right of the page).
- Choose the purchase option to remove the watermark. Your design will be saved to your mobile device without any watermarks. You can redownload this file for free at any time via the My Stuff page.
This applies to both image and video downloads. For videos, the only way to remove the watermark is through purchase.
